There are several ways that you can work with the FAIR-SPACE team and we would like to hear from you if you are a technology provider, an end user of robotics and AI, a policy maker interested in the broader issues surrounding space robotics, someone working in the scientific community or a member of the general public.

As the Hub continues to grow we will be engaging with more collaborators, and building new partnerships so please do get in touch with our Partnership Manager Ann Swift to discuss your ideas in more detail.

Up to £1m of funding is available to strengthen academia-industry partnership and accelerate the prototyping of robotics and AI solutions for the Space Sector.

FAIR-SPACE Innovation Project Fund

This rolling programme is launched to respond to the changing demands of the space robotics industry. Engagement is via research & innovation projects that support the long-term objectives of the programme; specifically to go beyond the state-of-the-art in space robotics and autonomous systems through new emerging research topics and applications, and to enable long-lived robotic operations in space.

A total of £500K is allocated to fund innovation projects. Up to £150k (80% Full Economic Cost) is available per application. Organisations who are eligible for UKRI funding can apply. Priority will be given to proposals that have strong industrial partnerships and applications.

Industrial Innovation Vouchers

FAIR-SPACE Hub is offering Vouchers of £150k in total value and up to £15k per application to access the FAIR-SPACE lab equipment and facility network across the UK.  You can use this funding, for example, to verify & validate your products, test out prototypes, or carry out R&D using our equipment. You must be a UK registered company to access the Voucher scheme and SMEs will be prioritised.

Secondments & Placements

We are keen to transfer knowledge between organisations and academia through secondments and placements. We invite any organisation e.g university, government body, business, charity to send their staff to work in the FAIR-SPACE Hub as a secondee. Placements apply to university students and the Hub partnering organisations can host.

For both opportunities you will need a project idea that is relevant to the Hub’s long term objectives. We have a total budget of £160k in this category and will fund up to £20k for a maximum period of 6 months (shorter period will be budgeted pro rata). The funding can cover expenses on project related consumables, travel and accommodation.

FAIR-SPACE Hub Ambassador Scheme

The main objectives of the Ambassador programme are to facilitate greater collaboration between industry and the FAIR-SPACE Hub by leveraging relevant expertise for both R&D as well as teaching and learning. In addition, through the Ambassador programme, the Hub will also aid the development of STEM related career skills through its outreach activities.

We are seeking representatives from industry, academia and the wider public sector, who are willing to play an active Ambassador role. We will offer an Honorarium package and cover any additional expenses incurred whilst acting as a Hub Ambassador.
