The UK Space Conference is well established as the most important and influential event for space in the UK. For the fifth time, this biennial event will bring together the UK and international space community from across government, industry and academia to exchange ideas, share plans, develop relationships and seek inspiration to thrive in the new space age.

What you need to know and how to apply for funding from the FAIR-SPACE Hub Innovation Project & Partnership Programme

This workshop will be delivered by Ann Swift, Partnership manager, FAIR-SPACE Hub. Ann is keen to promote collaboration between the hub, industry and academia wherever possible. This includes a number of opportunities that include funding for University innovation projects, funding to provide access to facilities at the Hub Labs, funding to support secondments and placements, as well as the Ambassador programme.

IAC 2019

FAIR-SPACE will be exhibiting at the 70th International Astronautical Congress (IAC), being held from 21st - 25th October in Washington D.C. Hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), IAC 2019 will bring together key space players to discuss the advancement and progress of space in its various features; and in particular this year, the IAC will commemorate that “one giant leap for mankind”: the 50th anniversary of a feat once thought impossible: humans walking on the moon, and celebrate the international accomplishments and partnerships that have become the hallmarks of space exploration.

Prof. Yang Gao is an internationally renowned space roboticist, specializing in sensing, perception, navigation, control, autonomy and real-world space mission development. SSPI UK 'AI in Space' Workshop in partnership with FAIR-SPACE Hub

SSPI UK, in partnership with FAIR-SPACE, will be hosting the ‘AI in Space’ Workshop on Monday 22nd July 2019 (1.30 - 5.30pm) at Tech UK’s Headquarters in London.

The workshop will focus on the application of AI in space and it’s potential role in shaping telecommunications, scientific, exploration among other missions and highlight how academia, public policy makers, the legal profession and insurers are preparing are approaching the challenges AI brings.

International Robotics Showcase 2019

FAIR-SPACE Hub Director, Yang Gao, is one of the Showcase Speakers for the International Robotics Showcase 2019, the centrepiece of the UK Robotics Week. Organised by the EPSRC UK-RAS Network, the International Robotics Showcase will take place at the Royal Geographical Society on Thursday 27th June 2019, 9.00am – 4.30pm.

This year the showcase event will feature exclusive talks by world-renowned experts in science and technology, on the ethical, legal and economic impact of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). The talks, accompanied by an all-day exhibition, will offer live robot demonstrations and the chance for academics, industry and the general public to explore the latest technological developments and capabilities.

FAIR-SPACE Hub Director, Yang Gao, will be presenting 'AI Robotics for Sustainable Space Manufacturing' on Day 1 of the Made for Space event, hosted by The Manufacturing Technology Centre. FAIR-SPACE will also be showcasing as part of the Made for Space exhibition.

The two-day conference, from 2 - 3 May 2019, will examine the opportunities and challenges for manufacturing within the global space sector. With sessions focusing on key advanced manufacturing technologies, such as: additive manufacturing, surface engineering and advanced coatings, robotics and automation, and joining, Made for Space brings together international experts from both the space and advanced manufacturing sectors who will show how these new manufacturing technologies can help to address the challenge of producing the next generation of space hardware. Innovate Guildford 2019

We’re delighted to be exhibiting at Innovate Guildford on 23rd March with an interactive stand designed to enable visitors to understand what robotics and artificial intelligence can do in space. Visitors will also be able to explore different scenarios for robots - how they could be used on a planet's surface, or whilst circulating in orbit, and even how they can help astronauts living in the Moon Village. There will be Lego for visitors to play with in order to build moon villages or bases and we will be giving away little astronaut, rocket and moon stress toys.
